TOP 5 Most Favourite Running Tracks in Singapore

No one can deny that Singapore is one of the best city for Runners. All the facilities here are amazing and really suitable for people who loves “city” kinda sport, like running. No wonder that Running become a habit for Singaporean (both local and the Expats). It is a culture, the thing that stick to thier blood, I guess. :)

Well, it has been a year since I moved here as #AnakRantau, and I have tried so many places here to run for last 12 months living in Singapore. I’d like to share TOP 5 Most Favourite Running Tracks that you can try when you have time visiting SG beside your business trip and shopping:

Here you go…

5. Alexandra Garden Trail

Actually, this is not a running track, but I love this place because you can simply run on the hanging trail garden while you can see “green jungle” down there, under your shoes. Kinda cool, huh? It’s just 5 mins bus ride from IKEA Alexandra Road. You know how to get there right? :))

4. East Coast Park

One of the best place for weekend getaway. From the south-side of downtown (Marina), approximately you will get 10 KM run until you reach Tanah Merah (end-point of East Coast Park). While along the way, you can find very nice beach, coconut trees, volley ball net, jetty, camp area, super awesome BBQ pits, showers & lockers check point, and.. and.. and.. fucking skatepark! Dude, seriously this area is so damn cool! It has two different lines for people run and for bike or skating (skateboard and roller-blade). And if you get hungry after running, there are couple of food stalls and restaurants. My fave is Hongkong Style Dimsum Shop, beside Jumbo Sea Food restaurant.

3. River Valley through Clarke Quay and Boat Quay

As an expatriate, you gotta be proud of yourself if you can run through this canal in Saturday morning, to watch young happy family playing with thier kids, hot babes with dogs (of course she is wearing Yoga Pants & Sport Bra without T-shirt), and local people with friendly gestures. You can start running from River Valley towards Downtown (Raffles & Marina area). Just follow the Quay, you will pass premium condo & apartment, Italian, French, Aussie, Japs Restaurants (you name it), until finally you get Clarke Quay (the mandatory sightseeing place in SG). Don’t stop there, you can keep running trough Boat Quay until you see Marina Bay Sands arrogantly standing in-front of you.

2. Downtown to Marina Bay Area (Marina Bay Sands and Garden Bay The Bay)

Actually this should be my number 1, just because I have legit video for the last one, so I need to put this place as 2nd fave. There’re couple reasons that makes this Downtown of Singapore become our favourite running tracks:

  1. Your Nike+ GPS will detect your location as “downtown core” by the time you turn on your apps. #penting :))
  2. Your competitiveness will get tested by other expats who have better muscles, abs and gears. #penting (2)
  3. It will bring you so much joy when you’re start running at 6pm in the afternoon, when other people in Jakarta are still working. LOL! #penting (3).
  4. This is serious legit: Marina Bay area has wooden floor and comfortable tiles for run. Especially if you keep running through Garden Bay The Bay up until Marina Barrage with the BOSE-On inside your ears. DAT FEELING, number one!
  5. You can imagine how grateful you are when you feel the orchestra of life happening when you run. The sweat, spirit, beat, ambience, every-single details looks-sounds beautiful. :)

Merlion. It's kinda cool when you pass the crowd of people who take photos while you're just keep running. :p

1. Viper Challenge in Sentosa Island.

I don’t have words to describe Sentosa except with this video. Even-though the beach (and almost 80% things here) are artificial, I think we need to appreciate the people behind this who make this island amazing. It’s like a childhood dream to me. Enjoy and you gotta try!
